The article reports on the decision of the U.S. court of appeals for Fifth Circuit in the court case "United States v. Transocean Deepwater Drilling, Inc" in which Transocean pleaded guilty to an information, charging the company with one count of the Clean Water Act. Topics discussed include role of the U.S. Chemical Safety and Hazard Investigation Board (CSB) in investigating oil leakages; Clean Air Act Amendments of 1970; and the establishment of the Environmental Protection Agency.
