- Abstract
The establishment of marriage which forms the future of all communities is the most important social establishment. The aim of this study is to investigate personal and global views of contemporary British playwright, Alan Ayckbourn as reflected in his play called Absurd Person Singular concerning with the establishment of marriage. Among Ayckbourn's plays, which were written and put on stage by the playwright from the 1960s to the 1990s in Scarborough, Absurd Person Singular has a vital place in terms of the establishment of marriage. As a whole, the play reflects some issues such as; lack of sensibility, lack of communication, alienation and degenerated moral values of an average British middle-class couple comes face to face. As a result, this study displays the playwright's views of woman-man relationships and the British establishment of marriage from his stage.
