Factores asociados con la ideación suicida en una muestra de estudiantes de una universidad colombiana.

- Abstract
Introducción. Anualmente, 700.000 personas mueren por suicidio. En las Américas, aumentó en 17 % la tasa de suicidios y, en Colombia en el 2023, se han presentado 1.260 casos, 688 en personas entre los 18 y los 44 años. Objetivo. Este estudio de corte transeccional propone caracterizar los factores asociados con la ideación suicida en estudiantes de una universidad colombiana (n=483). Materiales y métodos. Se calcularon medidas de tendencia central y estadísticas con la prueba de ji al cuadrado, la t de Student, ANOVA y las correlaciones de Pearson. Con los instrumentos se evaluaron: funcionalidad familiar, ansiedad, depresión, autoestima, consumo de sustancias psicoactivas, necesidades interpersonales e ideación suicida. Resultados. Se encontró que el 5,4 % de la población presenta disfuncionalidad familiar grave; el 57 %, ansiedad; el 53 %, depresión; el 49 %, baja autoestima; el 64 % consumía alcohol; el 20 %, tabaco; el 14,5 %, canabis; el 7,2 % se percibía como una carga pesada para los demás y el 40 % presentaba pertenencia frustrada. Respecto a la ideación suicida, el 85,9 % nunca o casi nunca había tenido ideación suicida y el 14,1 % la habían tenido ocasionalmente, casi todos los días o todos los días en el último año. Los estudiantes con un mejor funcionamiento familiar casi nunca presentaban ideación suicida. Tener depresión, ansiedad, baja autoestima, percibirse una carga para los demás y tener mucha pertenencia frustrada, se relacionaron con el pensamiento suicida. Existe relación significativa entre el consumo de tabaco, cánnabis, cocaína, anfetaminas y tranquilizantes, y la ideación suicida para un grupo reducido de estudiantes. Conclusión. Este estudio proporciona una visión contextualizada de los factores de riesgo asociados con la ideación suicida, y ofrece un recurso valioso para la formulación situada de políticas y planes sobre salud mental para estudiantes universitarios.
