- Abstract
A literary criticism of the book "The Realities of Witchcraft and Popular Magic in Early Modern Europe," by Edward Bever is presented. It questions the value of Bever's method in turning away from a contextual and relativistic approach to conceptions of magic during the past. It also argues that the explanation of human experience through neuro-physiological activities and psychophysical cognitive process in the human brain can not prove that the experience of early modern Württembergers on popular magic and witchcraft is reality.
