- Abstract
The article discusses freedom of thought and the pursuit of academic freedom in America in the wake of the U.S. Supreme Court's ruling in the 2006 case Garcetti v. Ceballos which deals with a restriction on the free speech rights of public employees. The rights of Americans are addressed in relation to the First Amendment to the U.S. Constitution. Freedom of expression rights are also mentioned, along with the legal rights of teachers and professors in the U.S.
