- Abstract
The article describes the U.S. Constitution Eighth Amendment protection of juveniles that prohibits juveniles from being sentenced to life without the possibility of parole. It highlights the U.S. Supreme Court's decision in Miller v. Alabama that sentences of life without the possibility of parole are unconstitutional for juvenile offenders. It analyzes the impact of the involvement of social science and forensic mental health evaluators in post-Miller individualized sentencing hearings.
