- Abstract
The article offers information on the creation of Muriel Rukeyser's poem entitled "Gauley Bridge." It says that Rukeyser went to Gauley Bridge, West Virginia in 1936 to make her documentary and understand the context. Furthermore, she also recorded the culture and history of a people to make the narrative realistic. It also mentions that the film "Matewan," directed by John Sayles portrayed the massacre in Matewan focusing on the resistance to organize coal miners.
