- Abstract
A comparative study was made for the corresponding ring and compact yarns spun from cotton and polyester fiber on different compact spinning systems. The results show that the compact yarns have higher tenacity, higher elongation, lower hairiness, lower unevenness and imperfection, higher abrasion resistance, higher rigidity, less yarn diameter and higher packing density than the corresponding ring counterparts. Furthermore, the recovery parameters are superior for compact yarns than the ring yarns. In respect of percentage change, the yarn spun on RoCoS system shows less percentage change for tenacity, diameter and packing density but higher change in elongation when compared with yarn spun on compact system by Zinser and Suessen.
