- Abstract
In order to solve the check valve response delay and cavitation of the traditional triangle rotary pump after reaching a speed of 700 r/min which result in incapability of increasing the flow rate by increasing the speed, a new rotary pump, an elliptical rotary pump, is designed, and the key performance and design parameters are preliminarily calculated tocompare with the traditional triangle rotary pump which has several drawbacks such as delayedresponse time of the check valve, large fluctuation of the outlet flow rate and short service lift of the face seal. The speed of the elliptical rotary pump is increased by 40%. The total flow rate at the outlet is smoother due to the alternation of three working chambers and the early mixing of the water flow inside the pump body before it is discharged from the outlet. The sliding range of the face seal does not overlap with that of the support seal, thereby improving the service life of the seal.
