- Title
How to Double or Triple Mail-Survey Response Rates.
- Authors
Jolson, Marvin A.
- Abstract
The article discusses the marketing method of a pre-notification approach in mail surveys. The practice employs a pre-notification by telephone to prospective respondents. The phone call offers an assurance to the marketer that they will receive a certain number of mailed responses. The advantages of the approach include the introduction of a dimension of intimacy, an opportunity to emphasize the brevity and ease of completion of the questionnaire, and the differentiation between the mailed survey and junk mail.
