- Abstract
This article discusses the construction of a collective memory of suffering involved with forced labor within the Soviet Union during World War II. The author comments on the press coverage of the laborers at the time as well as the literary production related to these captives produced both during and after the war, which includes the publication of Soviet propaganda, newspaper articles, documentary films, and documents of the laborers themselves, such as personal letters, memoirs, and poetry.
