- Abstract
The article examines the content of the motion picture Ali, directed by Michael Mann. The film presents the biography of boxer Muhammad Ali. The film deals with the impact of the U.S. culture on the life of Ali. The motion picture emphasizes his achievements in the boxing arena from 1964 to 1974. However, critics argue that the film resemble a biopic from the U.S. motion picture industry's classic era. Hence, the film was criticized to imply that social history can be reduced to a narrative of the lives of popular people.
