- Abstract
It investigates the pedagogical practices and methodologies practiced and/or adopted by the Library Science schools/courses in Brazil, after the last curricular changes made by the undergraduate courses in Librarianship. The main objective was to locate didacticpedagogical experiences considered innovative and capable of propelling rupture with the conservative methods of teaching and learning. In order to characterize, analyze and elaborate syntheses about the obtained data, the methodological plan of Documentary Research was followed in a triangulation with the qualitative and quantitative approaches. To obtain the data, two different sources of information were used: the Brazilian Library and Information Science journals indexed at the Base de Dados Referenciais de Artigos de Periódicos em Ciência da Informação database and papers/researches presented and published in the proceedings of Encontro Nacional de Pesquisa em Ciência da Informação, over the last ten years. In order to support the reflection undertaken, the theoretical framework of the emerging paradigm was adopted, seeking to interconnect this vision with the discussion of the revision of pedagogical methods to theoretically support the process of revision and methodological experimentation necessary for the accomplishment of a new proposal of professional training in the area of Library Science. The results indicate that the training institutions perceive the mismatch between training and the needs of society, signaling to a new teaching position, backed by a new paradigmatic option of teaching. It is believed, therefore, that it is possible to go beyond the conservative education model still in place and reach the perspective of a more innovative teaching of Library Science, more efficient and effective to respond to the needs of society.
