- Abstract
Special Collections at The Catholic University of America (CUA)--for-merly known as The American Catholic History Research Center--has four departments: museum, rare books, university archives, and manuscripts. This article focuses on collections as part of both university archives, which include more than a hundred CUA recordgroups, and manuscripts, which include nearly five hundred donations of non-university institutional records and personal papers documenting American Catholic history. Topics treated in these records range from education and labor to politics and social justice. They also include important collections related to secular and canon (church) law, which often intersect or overlap. This diverse assemblage of collections with both institutional records and personal papers is an important resource for the legal history of American Catholics and the U.S. Catholic Church.
