- Abstract
The article stresses on the performance of black college students at elite liberal art institutions. Black college students at elite liberal arts institutions are experiencing a stereotype threat. However, the need of the hour is to judge how nonassimilated black students fare at colleges across the entire country. There has been an increasing importance of historically black colleges and universities. Statistics of the success rates of black students at elite institutions are higher at historically black colleges and universities. They have fewer dropouts, higher retention rates, better success at graduate and professional schools and count among their alumni a higher number of black legislators and leaders than any other higher education institutions in the U.S.
