- Abstract
This article discusses a trend in which U.S. high technology companies such as Hewlett-Packard, Kodak, Xerox, and Punch Graphix are targeting the printing industry with commercial digital printing presses. These companies are reversing a trend in which few public companies are wooing commercial printers because these are old-technology, slow-growing, risk-resistant, and their share of the communications market is shrinking. Hewlett-Packard hosted an "Analyst and Media Graphic Arts Summit" conference in Salt Lake City, Utah. INSET: Printers' Adoption of Technology Has Been Painfully Slow.
