- Title
Whither or Wither: Disaffection, Intransigence and Democratization in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
- Authors
Davison, Joan
- Abstract
The article presents an examination of the status of democracy in Bosnia and Herzegovina. It explores how elites within the country have been able to stifle the democratic process by exploiting ethno-religious divisions despite national support for membership in the European Union (EU) and general dissatisfaction for the country's 21st century political conditions. It explores how the country's political system operates, discusses the necessary changes that must be made in order to gain EU membership and offers suggestions regarding group rights, citizenship and political participation.
