- Abstract
As discussed,1 NXG, where associated with a paraprotein, can be a precursor to a haematological malignancy such as multiple myeloma or lymphoma. Thalidomide was used as a single agent in the treatment of myeloma over two decades ago3 and thalidomide monotherapy has been given to patients with smouldering or asymptomatic myeloma. Dear Editor, We thank our colleagues, Drs Ali and Lear1 for their recommendation on adding necrobiotic xanthogranuloma (NXG) to the list of potential indications for thalidomide treatment, published recently in I Clinical and Experimental Dermatology i , as a comment on our earlier article.2 However, this does open up another avenue that may stir up further debate.
