- Title
ALERT LINE INTERRUPTED.
- Abstract
The article reports on the belief of the officials that the Deep-Ocean Assessment and Reporting Tsunami (DART) installed to help predict tsunamis have been disabled on purpose in Indonesia. Ridwan Djamaluddin, head of Indonesia's marine technology research center, suspected the cable holding the seabed sensor to a buoy was severed intentionally, possibly by a ship. According to Djamaluddin, the depth at which the steel line broke was suspicious and the fact that the buoy was designed to withstand a pulling force of up to six tons.
