- Abstract
Written with a direct and persuasive language during the Conquest by the dominican Pedro de Córdoba, Doctrina cristiana's main objective was the conversion of the indians and the salvation of their souls. As well, it changed their believes and religious practices through a new cosmological view of the "after life", presenting a humanized heaven, on one hand, and four different stages of punishment or purification depending on the state of the soul, on the other, such as: a limbo for the Holy Fathers, a purgatory, a children's limbo and hell. The resurection of the flesh and the final judgement were also an important subject in this XVI century work.
