- Abstract
Blood flow restriction training (BFRT) is a novel strategy that has been shown to induce cardiovascular and neuromuscular adaptations similar to those obtained with conventional training. The aim of our study was to investigate the current use of BFRT in Spain. For this, a questionnaire was designed and answered by 33 Spanish professionals of physical activity and sport. 68.1% combines BFRT with resistance training, being muscle hypertrophy the main effect to achieve (29.5%). 87.9% of the participants in this questionnaire assessed the high or very high degree of efficacy to BFRT, finding a low percentage of side effects. Delayed onset muscle soreness (DOMS) and numbness and / or pruritus were the two side effects most reflected. These results indicate that the BFRT is a safe and effective training strategy that can be used by a wide population range, included with clinical population.
