- Abstract
Since there are gaps within the Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA) with regard to time, current study evaluates the efficiency of the Northeastern, tradition and expansion Center-South regions between 2008 and 2012. DEA, oriented towards products to quantify the regions´ efficiency, and Windows Analysis have been employed. The outputs used in the model were quantity of ethanol and sugar produced in each region, whilst the input comprised the amount of processed sugarcane. Results show a trend for loss efficiency over time, especially as from 2010. General average of efficiency (98%) of the segment is high, with low standard deviation. It demonstrates the stability level of the segment. The main issue with regard to lack of efficiency in the regions is due to production scale.
