- Title
THE ARCHITECTURAL FORM OF THE ROMANIAN FOLK SONG.
- Authors
SANDU, Eugen Petre
- Abstract
The result of the process of generating and coordinating the elements of music creation in a homogenous whole is the architectural form. The reality obtained is complex, defined by the interactions between the whole and the parts: means of expression and architectural elements. By applying the principles of construction: repetition, variation, contrast, one can reach the order governing the sound material. For folklore, the variational principle is accompanied by the principle of simultaneity of creation with interpretation, gaining specific notes: variations from one melodic stanza to another, from one performance to another, from one performer to another, expression through variants (updated forms of tradition). The creative process in folklore is open through collective participation and oral transmission: in addition, the function marks the content, in the means of expression and configuration of form elements.
