- Abstract
The article discusses the need of teaching the nature of science (NOS) and engaging in whole science, which is authentic scientific practice. The author argues that NOS lessons may be a series of well-posed problems and discusses several key strategies for teaching NOS, including being explicit, such as investigating activities that introduce important concepts about the process of science, the use of constructivist approaches, and the use of authentic examples, such as actual case studies instead of mock forensic games. An overview of the value of using historical cases instead of contemporary cases to teach NOS is discussed.
