- Title
Was Darwin a Social Darwinist?
- Authors
Allchin, Douglas
- Abstract
The article presents the author's views on the evolution of human culture and morality. Based on the concept of Charles Darwin's natural selection, Darwinism means a belief in ruthless social competition and unmitigated individualism. Since Darwin, the evolution of social organization in other animals has been richly documented and is profiled in most introductory biology texts. Historian and biographer Janet Browne offers a different view of the portrait of Darwin. He advocated for the rights of slaves.
