- Title
Unavailability of Screening Tool for Adults with Autism Spectrum Disorder: Indian Context.
- Authors
Nayak, Asmita; Math, Suresh Bada
- Abstract
The article discusses the lack of comprehensive screening tools for adults with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) in India. Currently, existing tools only cover children up to 18 years old, leaving a gap in diagnosis and treatment for adults. This lack of screening tools is compounded by classification systems that focus on childhood symptoms and a shortage of trained professionals. Undetected ASD in adults can lead to a lack of access to necessary support services and benefits. The article recommends the development of screening policies and the establishment of specialized academic courses to address this issue. Additionally, the use of digital health tools leveraging artificial intelligence is suggested as a potential solution for community awareness and early detection of adults with ASD.
