- Authors

- Abstract
This article discusses the study of language contact and contact-induced change, which has gained scholarly attention in recent years. It highlights the importance of understanding how contact between languages can lead to changes in their morphosyntax, particularly from a typological perspective. The article also acknowledges the challenges of studying contact-induced change in languages with limited historical or written documentation. The special issue of the Transactions of the Philological Society aims to explore these challenges and provide new data and perspectives on contact-induced changes in the morphosyntax of various ancient and modern languages. The articles in the issue cover a range of topics, including the role of typology, the influence of genetic relatedness, and the impact of translation on linguistic change. The volume includes case studies on languages such as Greek, Latin, Occitan, Udi, and Central Siberian Yupik, among others. Overall, the articles contribute to a better understanding of language contact and its effects on morphosyntax.
