The article looks at the ruling of the British Columbia Supreme Court on the British Columbia Civil Liberties Association (BCCLA) and John Howard Society of Canada versus Attorney General that challenged the provisions of the Corrections and Conditional Release Act (CCRA) that authorize administrative segregation and solitary confinement. Topics covered include explanation of the ruling, prison culture and the culture of administration, and principles of the CCRA.
