- Abstract
The article presents the author's insights regarding his experience as a marine mammal scientist and the history of Kewalo Basin Marine Mammal Laboratory (KBMML) in Honolulu, Hawaii. The author mentions that his first study of dolphin intelligence was made at Sea Life Park, wherein he studied the female Pacific bottlenose dolphin named Wela. Furthermore, KBMML has started when the National Science Foundation (NSF) granted it with annual support for dolphin studies in December 1971.
