Abstract

The government's non-disclosure of the state of health of the Philippines' president Rodrigo Duterte fueled speculations from local and international media, with the public joining the fray by creating memes. The government and Duterte's critics continue to disseminate the two narratives on Duterte's health even without medical evidence to back either claim. When speculation ran rife that Duterte was sick, Go posted several photos of Duterte on social media with this caption: "Sa mga may masasamang Hangarin, Wag muna kayo mag celebrate!!.
