- Abstract
Incidence and population density of the different insect and mite pests and their associated natural enemies on faba bean plants w~re studied at Nubaria province, EIBeheira governoarte during the cultivated season 2012/2013.The existed pests include Gryllotalpa gryllotalpa (Linnaeus), Agrotis ipsilon (Hufnagel), Aphis craccivora Koch, Aphis fabae Scopoli, Empoasca spp., Bemisia tabaci (Gennadius), Liriomyza trifolii (Burgess), Nezara viridula (Linnaeus), Spodoptera littoralis (Boisd.) and Thrips tabaci Lindeman. The mite pests Tetranychus urticae, T. cucurbitacearum, Eutetranychus orienta/is (Klein) and Tarsonemus sp. were recorded on faba bean plants during the early season or seedling and vegetative stages then the infestation disappeared during budding and maturity stages. The spider mite, T. urticae was the most abundant mite. Its population appeared in the seedling stage during November and decreased sharply at early December then disappeared until second week of February, then increased gradually until end of the season. The aphids appeared during the seedling stage and fast increased in numbers till mid of December, whereby the rain decreased its number during last of December and January. The numbers of aphids were very few during flowering and maturity stages. The broad bean leaf miner, trifolii (Burgess) was in few numbers at seedling stage then increased slowly until harvest. The green stink bug, N. veridula L. was found in few numbers during the vegetative stage. The snails began in few numbers then increased slowly until end of the season. Also, seasonal abundance of the four coccinellidae predators; Coccinella undecimpunctata, C. septempunctata, Cydonia vicina nolitica and C. vicina. isis was conducted. The total number of coccinellid adults was recorded throughout the whole season was 460individuals comprising high percentage of 44.5 % of total predators. The numbers of the rest collected predators were Paederus alfierii (194 individuals); Chrysoperia carnea 144 induviduals occupied 14.2 % of the total counts of predators; Orius laevigatus(112 individuals)as adults and nymphs represented 11.1 % of the total numbers of predators.
