- Abstract
In response to news about the recent discovery of Cao Cao’s tomb in Anyang in Henan Province, China, the author points out that Cao Cao was a subject of considerable interest during the Qing dynasty. This article presents an overview of essays and poems regarding Cao Cao as a springboard to discuss literary critiques through the dynasties. Given that many of the authors were not archaeologists, these writings were partly travelogues, partly historiography, and partly literary critiques. The author draws from many quotes from the "Collected Anthologies of Qing Poems and Other Writings," published in 2010, as references to his discussions.
