INTERACTION, SEDENTISM, AND WOODLAND-PERIOD CHRONOLOGY IN CENTRAL ALABAMA: A SURVEY OF THE ARMORY SITE.
- Authors
Eubanks, Paul
- Abstract
An archaeological survey is presented of the Armory site (1Ds174) of the Middle Woodland period located near the Alabama River in central Alabama, mapping the development of community interactions and population sedentism during the era. An overview of excavations of the Armory between 1980 and 2009 is given, providing data for a cultural chronology of the site's history. The settlement histories of central Alabama from the Early Middle to the Terminal Woodland are then charted in turn through comparison of the dispersion of ceramic assemblage patterns.
