- Abstract
A literary criticism of novels by author Thomas Hardy, including "The Trumpet-Major," "Under the Greenwood Tree," and "Jude the Obscure," is presented. The role of letters as a form of communication in the novels is addressed. The notion of a national postal community in the novels is discussed in relation to social changes in Great Britain.
