- Title
BASKET MAKER AND PUEBLO SANDALS.
- Authors
BALDWIN, GORDON C.
- Abstract
The article discusses an archeological find of 117 sandals found in a cave in Colorado. They are said to belong to the Pueblo culture, and to date from somewhere between 950 and 1300 CE. A tentative attribution of the sandals to the earlier Basket Maker culture, in the article "Basket Maker Sandals (?)" by Olive Frazier Cornelius, published in a previous issue of "Southwestern Lore," is said to be inaccurate. The construction and style of the sandals is discussed in detail, in the context of known Basket Maker and Pueblo cultural traditions.
