Abstract
The author reflects on the budgetary cuts in the biomedical research in the U.S. and abroad. According to the new budget of the U.S. National Institutes of Health (NIH), it is going to increase the number of new competing research project grants (RPGs). their are various strategies to maintain the surplus grant such as decreasing the value of both competing and no competing RPGs by one percent to maintain the growth in the number of competing RPGs.
