- Title
The withdrawal of the Liverpool Care Pathway in the United Kingdom: what are the implications for Australia?
- Authors
Chan, Raymond J.; Webster, Joan; Phillips, Jane; Currow, David C.
- Abstract
The authors discuss the harms and benefits of end-of-life care pathways (EOLCPs) in Australia. They mention that there requires an urgent need for large Phase III studies measuring thoroughly the results in Australia, and subsequent monitoring of the results if widespread uptake is backed by well designed studies. They say that studies need to stratify participants according to various settings, such as cancer care units, emergency departments and general acute care to assure generalisability.
