Title
CAN'T AFFORD LEAVE BUT YOONIE COMES FIRST.
Abstract
The article reports on registered nurse Jin-Hee Noh, who works at Manly Vale Nursing Home in Australia. Noh had to take six months unpaid leave off from work to care for her daughter Yoonie while not being able to afford it. Her employer, Hardi, offered the nurses a Union Collective Agreement with a pay raise but there were no provisions for paid maternity leave. Noh believes that the extra 18 weeks' paid maternity leave proposed by Australia's Productivity Commission would have helped.
