- Title
Re-examining the Nuclear Deterrence Theory.
- Authors
Malhotra, Aditi
- Abstract
The author analyzes the Nuclear Deterrence Theory. He outlines the assumptions involved in implementing nuclear deterrence, including the actors that are expected to be rational, the risk that must be excessively higher compared to the possible gain, and the theory operating in a bi-polar set up where two or more nuclear powers exist. He notes that a second-strike capability with the theory must counter-attack the opponent with a degree of unacceptable damage. The author thinks that applying the theory in the real world is impossible.
