- Authors
Shelton, Donald E.
- Abstract
The article discusses the role of the trial judge, as decided by the U.S. Supreme Court, as the gatekeeper who will determine which forms of scientific forensic evidence have sufficient validity to be used in a criminal proceeding. The status of various forms of scientific evidence subjected to the screening function is examined. Several pretrial concerns for the trial judge regarding the advanced technology, especially as they relate to DNA, are also tackled.
