- Abstract
The article discusses the importance of assessing the position of the infraorbital foramen (IOF) in quad zygoma or unilateral double zygoma implant surgery. The IOF is the location where the infraorbital nerve emerges, and damage to this nerve can be distressing to patients. Cone-beam computerized tomography (CBCT) scans can help identify the position of the IOF before surgery. The study found that extreme variation in the position of the IOF can interfere with the placement of implants, and measuring the distance between the IOF and the infraorbital rim is a simple and effective way to evaluate the feasibility of the surgery. Considering the IOF position during planning can ensure optimal results with minimal complications.
