- Abstract
The article evaluates the use of introductory chemistry course film in science education in the U.S. During the 1957 to 1958 school year, the Encyclopaedia Britannica Films, Inc. produced on film a series of 160 lectures and demonstrations conducted by professor John F. Baxter of the University of Florida. Five high schools of Wichita, Kansas indicated a willingness to participate in the evaluation of the introductory chemistry course on film. In order to secure necessary data for a statistical test of the null hypothesis, a study was conducted. The data presented in this study would seem to indicate that the students in the non-film classes achieved more in high school chemistry than did the students in the film classes.
