- Title
Youth Justice and Criminal Evidence Act 1999: Special Measures Directions—Compliance with Article 6.
- Authors
Hoyano, Laura
- Abstract
The article focuses on the requirement for cases from the youth courts in Great Britain, to comply with Article Six of the European Convention on Human Rights. The witnesses in trials involving charges of sex, violence, neglect or kidnapping are deemed in need of special protection. It is apt that the definitive ruling with fair trial guarantees should have been made on appeal from trials of juvenile witnesses and defendants.
