- Abstract
This article discusses the political use of theater as a vehicle of criticism of war and conflict in Columbia, particularly through the national tour of the production "Kilele: An Artesanal Epic," by Felipe Vergara. Details are given regarding the 2004 massacre in Chocó, Colombia which is re-enacted and explored within the play. Several thematic paradoxes inherent in the work are highlighted such as its vocal opposition to governments despite it's funding by them. The work's use of cultural elements such as music and ritual are also discussed in depth.
