- Authors
PRYMAK, THOMAS M.
- Abstract
An essay on the painting "Polish Rider" by seventeenth century Dutch artist Rembrandt Harmenszoon van Rijn, housed at the Frick Collection in New York City, is presented. It examines debates surrounding the attribution of the painting and the identity of the subject on horseback, thought to be a "Lisowczyk," or a member of the Lisowski company of the Polish army, and also to be nobleman and statesman Marcjan Aleksander Ogiński. The author also explores the history of scholarship on the work.
