- Abstract
The female reproductive system gives the way in which the vagina and cervix are organs considered complex, as it concentrates a considerable amount of aerobic and anaerobic bacteria called the natural vaginal microbiota. In terms of pathologies linked to the vaginal flora, Bacterial Vaginosis (BV) stands out worldwide as one of the diseases responsible for vaginal infection in sexually active women and in the reproductive age group, allowing sex hormones to be involved. in its pathogenesis. G. vaginalis plays a key role in the development of bacterial vaginosis, as the vagina is a suitable environment for its colonization, including by strict anaerobic bacteria that are associated with BV. Objective: To characterize the relationship of vaginal secretions with Gardnerella vaginalis in quilombola women. Methodology: This is a descriptive, cross-sectional study, the population will consist of quilombola women, users of the Unified Health System (SUS). MA women aged 15 to 75 years resident and registered in the areas covered by the Family Health Strategy (ESF) teams. Data were collected based on the cytopathological examination request form, as well as an interview and personal information and sociodemographic data were collected. The research included the performance of the examination of the cervix, by the conventional method. Results: Of a total of 140 participants, 25% were positive, in relation to age 44.28% are in the age group 31- 45 years. In the data analysis, we found P 0.8344. Regarding marital status, the largest group was married women or a stable union with 75 members, with P 0.2843. Regarding the Amsel test, Whiff test and cells, P <0.0001 was found. The sociodemographic profile of quilombola women, found in this study, showed a higher frequency of women aged between 31 and 45 years, who studied up to elementary school, who were married, non-alcoholic and non-smokers, and these characteristics cannot be related to cervical cancer. Conclusion: In the present study, it was possible to detect a high prevalence of inflammation related to Gardnerella vaginalis, representing 25% of the tests performed. Through this study, health professionals will be able to better evaluate and program strategies for the prevention, control and treatment of these gynecological infections in a more effective way.
