- Abstract
A produção de embriões equinos por meio da técnica de injeção intracitoplasmática de espermatozoide (ICSI) está crescendo a cada ano no Brasil e no mundo, por possuir vantagens em relação à produção de embriões por métodos convencionais. Além de auxiliar na reprodução de animais com subfertilidade adquirida e otimizar o uso de sêmen raro ou de alto custo, a ICSI possibilita a vitrificação dos embriões, tornando possível a escolha da receptora no melhor dia da transferência. As receptoras utilizadas podem ter ciclo natural ou artificial, possibilitando transferência de embriões ao longo de todo o ano. Sendo assim, o objetivo deste trabalho foi avaliar a influência do ciclo (natural x artificial) da receptora na taxa de prenhez dos embriões provenientes da ICSI durante o período de janeiro de 2020 a fevereiro de 2022. Para isso, avaliou-se um total de 3342 embriões de ICSI transferidos em receptoras de ciclo natural ou artificial. As éguas de ciclo natural receberam os embriões entre três e quatro dias após a ovulação. As éguas de ciclo artificial foram primeiramente preparadas com estrógeno IM (3 a 4 dias); ao final deste período de exposição estrogênica, receberam a primeira aplicação de progesterona IM e os embriões foram transferidos entre os dias 4 e 5 após a aplicação da progesterona. O diagnóstico de gestação foi realizado no dia 8 pós-transferência do embrião, e aos 30, 60 e 90 dias uma nova ultrassonografia foi realizada para a confirmação da manutenção da prenhez. Houve diferença estatística significativa (p < 0,001) na taxa de prenhez inicial de éguas de ciclo natural (64,3%) em comparação a de éguas preparadas artificialmente (56,8%). Entretanto a perda embrionária foi semelhante, sendo de 23,77 % para ciclo artificial e de 24,79% para ciclo natural até os 90 dias. Concluiu-se que apesar de existir a possibilidade de transferir o embrião de ICSI em éguas em ciclo artificial, as éguas de ciclo natural têm melhores índices comparadas às éguas preparadas artificialmente. Contudo, uma vez que estejam gestantes, a chance de perda é semelhante.
