Response letter concerning "Endoscopically assisted reconstruction of chronic Achilles tendon ruptures and re-ruptures using a semitendinosus autograft is a viable alternative to pre-existing techniques" by Niklas Nilsson, Baldvin Gunnarsson, Michael R. Carmont, Annelie Brorsson, Jón Karlsson and Katarina Nilsson Helander (doi.org/10.1007/s00167-022-06943-2) We would like to acknowledge Dr Pawel Bakowski's and Dr Tomasz Piontek's great contribution to the research on reconstruction of chronic Achilles tendon ruptures. However, research has not yet determined the optimal rehabilitation protocol following acute Achilles tendon ruptures nor surgical reconstruction of chronic Achilles tendon ruptures.
