- Abstract
This research aimed to analyze the use of manipulable materials for learning probability with 2nd year high school students from the public school network in the city of Parambu-CE, seeking answers to the following question: Teaching probability with the use of manipulable didactic materials can bring better learning results for students of the 2nd year of high school? And as specific objectives: to verify the students' knowledge on the subject of probability; to know didactic materials and similar works available in the literature for teaching probability; build / select teaching materials for teaching probability and verify students' knowledge of probability after an educational intervention. The present work constitutes a field research, of the collaborative action-research type with a quanti-qualitative approach. The research was divided into three moments: application of a pre-test, then four workshops and a lecture with an emphasis on intervention, addressing the theme and finally application of a post-test. Data were collected through a logbook, photos, students' testimonies about understanding the content and questionnaires applied to the students. The procedures for data analysis were based on the theoretical foundation on the subject. The results showed that in the pre-test the students had 25% of correct answers, in the post-test the students reached 78% of correct answers, showing that the students surveyed achieved a percentage growth of 212%, after carrying out the pedagogical workshops with use of manipulable materials, using game strategies and problem solving.
