- Abstract
This research aimed to verify the meaning of the work for the members of the social observatories in the cities around Florianopolis/SC. The theoretical basis used was based on studies by Estelle Morin (2002) on the subject. When implementing her theory, Morin sought to understand the meaning of work in dimensions: individual, organizational and social. In the case of this research, 12 individuals from three social observatories participated, and the verified aspects involved issues of individual, organizational and social values. This study used an interview as a data collection instrument, containing semi-structured questions with a qualitative approach. The data resulting from the interviews were analyzed using the data treatment technique, the content analysis of Laurence Bardin (2016). The results showed a strong prevalence of values consistent with the meaning of work, especially those related to social contribution. The research also demonstrated a high dependence on these organizations for the work carried out by volunteers.
